Loving Dream wins the Group 1 Prix de Royallieu
Lordship Stud’s 3-year-old homebred filly Loving Dream showed determination to battle back and nab Believe In Love in a nail-biting conclusion to the Group 1 Prix de Royallieu.
Dettori sent his charge into an immediate lead and Loving Dream held sway throughout the 14-furlong slog. Stirred into action as challenges loomed on all sides at the top of the straight, she refused to buckle on the lead and stayed on relentlessly under a continued drive inside the final quarter mile to turn down all challenges, including the late effort of Believe In Love by a short neck.
“We were, of course, a bit worried when Roger Varian’s filly [Believe In Love] came with her challenge, but she is very tough and has lots of talent,” revealed trainer Thady Gosden. “When Frankie is on form, he’s tough to beat and especially when he is in front. She has managed the distance well and the ground was fine, but she also goes well on good ground.
Loving Dream becomes the first Group 1 winner for her third-crop sire Gleneagles, who has nine pattern-race winners to his credit to date. Loving Dream also marks the first Group 1 scorer for her stakes-winning dam Kissable. Kissable was purchased as a broodmare by Luke for Lordship Stud at the 2013 Tattersalls December Sale for 180,000gns.
