Quickthorn Wins Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes
Quickthorn relished the soft conditions on the fourth day of the Royal Meeting, winning the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes for Lord and Lady Blyth. Following the victory of Loving Dream, Quickthorn secured a second success for long-standing clients of Lillingston Bloodstock during the week.
Quickthorn settled on the heels of the pacesetting Zabeel Champion under Oisin Murphy and was perfectly placed to make his challenge as the field turned for home. Murphy had plenty up his sleeve and stretched clear in the final furlong. Quickthorn has been trained brilliantly by Hughie Morrison and could now be aimed at the valuable Ebor Handicap at York.
Quickthorn is out of the Oasis Dream mare Daffydowndilly who was purchased as a yearling by Luke for the Blyths and won three races on the track before beginning her breeding career.
